Russia ‘terrorism attack’: 16-year-old shot dead in Tatarstan after stabbing police officer

Police in Russia have shot dead a 16-year-old boy in the Muslim-majority Tatarstan region after he tried to set fire to a local police station and stabbed an officer.

According to reports, the boy was armed with a knife and a Molotov cocktail and shouted 'Allahu Akbar' (God is greatest) as he inflicted multiple wounds on a police officer before being shot dead in Kukmor.

Russia's Investigative Committee, which handles major crimes, said it was treating the incident as an attempted act of terrorism.
