Fiancee of Rangers keeper Allan McGregor charged

THE fiancee of Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has been charged with wasting police time.

Leah Shevlin, 27, was questioned under caution at a police station in Glasgow and is now the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal.

It was reported that she had previously told police that Edinburgh-born McGregor had been assaulted after a night out in Glasgow city centre almost two weeks ago.

It is understood that, as a result of inquiries, officers are no longer investigating an attack on the 28-year-old Rangers player.

Last week, McGregor was questioned by police over alleged "inconsistencies" in his claim to have been assaulted outside a nightclub in Glasgow's Bath Street.

It was reported that McGregor was treated in hospital for facial injuries after being injured.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said: "A 27-year-old female is subject of a report to the procurator fiscal for wasting the time of police."
