Jobs boost as wildlife trust takes on 35 thanks to fund

YOUNG people in Edinburgh seeking work have been boosted by the prospect of 35 new local posts at a wildlife organisation.

As part of a scheme to get 18 to 24-year-olds into work, the Scottish Wildlife Trust has created new jobs at posts across Scotland, with the help of the government.

The organisation said wildlife and the environment also stood to gain from the project.

SWT's director of conservation, Jonny Hughes, said: "Extra pairs of hands and feet make an incredible difference to the work SWT can achieve on the ground for the protection and conservation of Scotland's wildlife.

"Most of our new employees will join our conservation teams who work to maintain SWT's wildlife reserves."

Secretary of State for Scotland Jim Murphy said: "The trust is a great example of an organisation taking up the British government's offer to help young people back into work. I am delighted it will enable them to offer jobs to young people."
