Athletics: Hay close to comeback

COMMONWEALTH Games 1500 metres runner Ali Hay (Central) aims to start rehab work in the pool soon after a recent hip operation.

Hay watched close rival Chris Mackay (Inverclyde) win the first Scottish 5k road race title at Silverknowes this week, with his Central clubmate Ross Houston in third. Houston, who will run the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday week, was thrilled with his time of 14:39 just four days after winning the Edinburgh to North Berwick 20 miles road race

"That was at the upper end of my expectations," said Houston.
